i have sony camcorder records in muxed mpeg-2 form. when import movies camera onto imac, there video no sound when played in imovie or quicktime7. after hours of support w/ mac, determined needed use mpeg streamclip convert videos. doing following: -dragging movie converted quicktime -going file & choosing "export quicktime" -i have tried various compression formats in window pops (apple motion jpega, apple dv/dvcpro-ntsc, etc). after video converted, can see video , hear sound when played in quicktime7 - , work when imported imovie great. have hundreds of videos convert, , doing batch conversion (well, several batches). questions are: 1. first time on board, i'm frantic. wife's macbook air (late 2008) had it's hard drive die 2nd time in 2 years, @ least after first one, bought 750gb time capsule/time machine, we've been backing hourly ever since. i've had hard drive die since then, , restore flawless. time, brought computer home after hard drive replaced, rebooted snowleopard disk, , restored. new hard drive died after restore, before next backup start. mac dealer replaced drive said they'd replace drive @ no charge. when got mba home, started restore system, , tells me there no osx systems restore! around web advice discovered factoid says restore, backups made unavailable, , sure again right away. see problem? still need restore last backup, time machine doesn't acknowledge them. if use finder imac @ time machine disk, can still see directories , subdirectories last backups of mba's drive. how can restore if can't restore!?? please...

i use macbook pro audio/music production. purchased buffalo 1tb drive station external hard drive raw data storage. problem arose when plugged in morning, plugged usb leads side of laptop , loud crackling came out of speakers , external monitor turned desktop raw static. once plugged in absolutely fine , worked okay, including hard drive, monitor , speakers. thought problem must come amount of power supplies involved , interference patterns , laptop's ability handle it. laptop powered wall. external hd, monitor , speakers powered surge protected extension adaptor thing separate socket laptop's power supply. concern i'm going doing quite , there wrong. need know how fix problem before damage part of expensive set up. have overloaded surge extension lead? laptop acting sort of crazy conductor? pretty worried. sorting out appreciated because can relate to, there lot of valuable gear @ stake. thanks!   ...

dear friends! propably issue danish subscripers can relate , with, hope work... trying use tc (4th gen) wireless airport, , setup worked fine. yousee need activate connection (ip adress) first time. fine, did on mbp! now, problems started when opened second macbook. had activate new ip adress... , first ip adress no longer working... in fact, means can have 1 mbp online @ time, , no ipods/ipads etc need activation on network well.... called apple , asked me change settings "share public ip adress" - did not work @ all. no connection ever! bridge-mode default setting. tried various setups: dsl cable modem->tc->mbp , dsl cable modem->switch->tc->mbp... same result: 1 computer/device online @ time. yousee (isp) says it's apple issue , cannot help... however, in thread somewhere read issue may ip adress should go tc , not wireless devices. if can somehow isp "lock" or register mac adress of tc "overall" ip adress o...
