i have sony camcorder records in muxed mpeg-2 form. when import movies camera onto imac, there video no sound when played in imovie or quicktime7. after hours of support w/ mac, determined needed use mpeg streamclip convert videos. doing following:
-dragging movie converted quicktime
-going file & choosing "export quicktime"
-i have tried various compression formats in window pops (apple motion jpega, apple dv/dvcpro-ntsc, etc). after video converted, can see video , hear sound when played in quicktime7 - , work when imported imovie great.
have hundreds of videos convert, , doing batch conversion (well, several batches). questions are:
1. "export quicktime" best selection, or should use different choice under file menu?
2. compression format should use?
3. there other settings should adjusted (sound, frame size, etc) - there many selections on streamclip menu i'm bit overwhelmed.
here additional information might help:
-i'll importing these converted videos imovie editing
-final product dvd of home movies want play on standard definition or high definition tv via dvd player - these movies of infant
-i want best quality product within reasonable file size since have hundreds of videos (most 2-3 minutes in length, longest might 5-10 minutes). i'm concerned best quality can store these files on external hard drive if needed (if in order have quality file sizes need big. know little this)
-i want make sure there aren't wavy lines (some of compression formats seem cause there wavy lines when there movement , sound @ same time on video)
thank thorough clear explanation - i'm new , want convert these videos of sweet baby can enjoy them!
use aic compression , leave other settings alone.
