iTunes Server

i'm considering, recent post, getting mac mini host itunes. want dedicated machine can have on , not have think about... sort of thing.

current setup win 7 machine hosting itunes library off of drobo fs. it's great setup, means leaving pc running. apple's stuff typically lower power, less heat, less stress on machine on , not in use, , won't require reboot quite often... add this, i've got lot of videos, home movies, dvd's etc. i've put them in itunes , added tags. though, best of knowledge, itunes seems keep in library , not write actual file. or wrong that? i'm still learning of stuff...

know can transfer it, nas , mini, in place transfer? let's @ point, don't have enough space allow copy every file, , if added space (which happen eventually), don't want take days that might take. have on 2 tbs worth of itunes data between music, movies, , tv shows.

there solution? or left bad choices?

advice or thoughts appreciated.

thanks!

i think in essence, you've got right idea , think you'll fine. yes, mac access pc's itunes folder. should work. metadata come on , shouldn't have special make happen.

if have been manually editing media have correct metadata you'll love program mac called iflicks. automatically handles , transcoding needs quite well. terrific program , prefer handbrak though costs money iflicks.
