Questions about Android licening

when people android free or open source system mean google doesnt charge licening fees vendors/manufacturers use in hardware devices? these vendirs ask google source code , approval without contracts or fees of kind? or when th open , free platform hey talking customization of ui , software vendors? (like them being qble move stuff around or change stuff without agoogle's approval , can have it.)

because know cheap tablets or phones use couldnt possibly have profit margins oay google. know how works , kidn of cut agoogle gets if @ all?

i'm not expert on topic, think have pretty picture.

afaik, google charges no fees use android. however, there contracts. if manufacturer , agree rather rigorous conditions, access code earlier doesn't agree conditions. also, believe there google apps available vendors agree rigorous contracts.

don't have particular problem google's approach: if had open system, ensuring quality of products made difficult. main objection google implies there software open , not.

ui customizations note point fundamental problem android: customers may replacement hardware software behaves in different fashion old hardware. users don't want fiddle machines may not that; users may go apple phones ensure consistent experience when update hardware.

there's plenty of writing "open" issue google android. should google on it. :)
