Deleting Recovery Partition on External HD

hi guys,
here story...

have 13" mbp (2010) using intel x25 ssd drive on snow leopard. computer working perfectly. upgraded lion , fans started going nuts, computer not hold wifi @ all. so...i replaced hd clone of original drive created in carbon copy cloner restore computer prior lion upgrade.

have original intel ssd drive mounted in external enclosure , trying erase/reformat it, cannot figure out how accomplish this. have tried doing in terminal (connected machine running snow leopard), keep getting error message partitions cannot merged.

advice appreciated. want reformat ssd , start scratch. how rid of darn hidden lion recovery partition?

you should able repartition sl. use disk utility, select disk, partition tab , select 1 partition under partition layout. should delete , make 1 partition.

should work disk utility lion well.
