Apple Working on Allowing the Merging of Multiple Apple IDs

macrumors has learned apple working on process merge multiple apple ids single login. issue of juggling multiple apple id logins has been minor inconvenience in past, developer testing of ios 5 , icloud, users have found major issue.

tuaw described problem in july, , answer @ time there no way consolidate apple ids:
mobileme users have found have @ least 2 apple ids, original 1 , mobileme account. juggling multiple logins while using apple's automatic downloads can particular chore since can't switch between logins. apple locks devices single apple id 90 days, preventing rapid switching between accounts.

apple has provided no official guidance on issue, except state apple ids can not consolidated @ time.

macrumors reader robert emailed tim cook issue, , received phone call apple executive relations employee. had spoken team responsible apple ids , acknowledged understood issue , more people run problem icloud. repeated there no way yet combine accounts revealed working on it. in meantime, recommended picking single account plan on keeping indefinitely , make future purchases on account.

apple's ceo tim cook has been particularly responsive customer emails , inquiries. in previous example, user emailed cook itunes match availability in canada. user got quick reply apple's senior vice president internet software , services, eddy cue. apple has announced launching icloud , ios 5 users "this fall".

i'm glad they're working on this. it'll useful many people... , it's time too!

edit - wonder if they'd ever set system have multiple accounts linked together... umbrella account sub-accounts. think useful families, spouses , kids have separate linked accounts... don't know, think might useful in scenarios... maybe?
