Just bought an External HD to use with MBA

i bought wd passport 1tb use 13" mba 128gb. have few questions before start using it.

1) file format should use ntfs, fat32, hfs format drive first before use it? want drive able read / write on windows pc don't want 4gb limit. format best me?

2) how should backup important files mba? should use time machine or can drag , drop manually? what's advantage of using time machine instead of drag , drop manually?

 

if format ntfs able read/write pc read on mac. if format hfs+ read/write mac, not pc. sound need format ever read/writing , use program other system able read/write occassionally.

time machine gives added ability restore tm backup.

Permissions Problem?

hello. unable log on computer. took mac store , said had problem permissions. reset computer's permissions , able log onto computer. however, since dock resets day had permissions problem. example, had various cs5 programs on dock. when upgraded cs5.5, replaced cs5 shortcuts cs5.5 counterparts. however, when restarted computer, cs5 icons still there. also, whenever restart computer, browser history resets whatever on day encountered permissions problem. can not save bookmarks. also, files required type in password whenever try moving or deleting file. there other problems wanted see if knows problem have before adding more problems. thank   Forums Macs macOS macOS iPhone Mac OS & System Software iPad Apple Watch Notebooks iTunes Apple ID iCloud Desktop Comput...

iPhone won't sync with iTunes
