best method for connecting to a database though an app

hi everyone,

part of university project, designing app web based company.

users login website access promotions , information , them able same through app.

have been told database connections details login.

question is, think best way me connect database through app?

have started programming apps btw, experience pretty basic, have programming background.

it ill-advised expose database directly internet because makes database directly attackable.

instead build web services layer on server faces internet. app uses http send high-level queries web services server, web services server makes sql queries database (which behind firewall) , web services server returns pre-cooked, high-level response app app can digest.

Permissions Problem?

hello. unable log on computer. took mac store , said had problem permissions. reset computer's permissions , able log onto computer. however, since dock resets day had permissions problem. example, had various cs5 programs on dock. when upgraded cs5.5, replaced cs5 shortcuts cs5.5 counterparts. however, when restarted computer, cs5 icons still there. also, whenever restart computer, browser history resets whatever on day encountered permissions problem. can not save bookmarks. also, files required type in password whenever try moving or deleting file. there other problems wanted see if knows problem have before adding more problems. thank   Forums Macs macOS macOS iPhone Mac OS & System Software iPad Apple Watch Notebooks iTunes Apple ID iCloud Desktop Comput...

iPhone won't sync with iTunes
