Massive time machine issue, please help!

hi, inherited dad's old macbook pro. had used time machine data. wiped hard drive no security options. tells me has delete sparse bundle it. when had moved, wiped old imac 1-pass security. have been trying rid of old imac backup. first accessed time capsule macbook. attempted delete old sparsebundle (drag trash, cmd-delete, etc). little trash window opened saying deleting. however, progress bar red , blue stripes, if preparing, , bottom said items delete: 0. left hours , came back, , hadn't changed. next attempted go show package contents, , bands folder, trying erase 1 of "bands" gave me same never-ending "0 items delete" progress window". becoming frustrated, went onto time machine backups drive mounts when there backup going. don't know how drive appeared, since time capsule full macbook up, , hasn't backed yet. anyway, went on drive, opened backups.backupdb, , saw bunch of old backups when dad owned computer in backups folder. (this strange, since said deleted backup. maybe it's because didn't use security options when wiped macbook's keyboard.) no reason other being confused , frustrated, dragged every single backup time machine backups drive trash. tried empty trash. began saying emptying, began progress bar, when full, "items delete" starting going negative numbers, if checked every second went 10, 5, 1, 0, -2, -5, etc way thousands. realized might harm computer rid of these, , stopped buggy trash emptying process. (as side note, tried secure deleting trash, , gave me "0 items delete" progress bar sparsebundle. have kind of created cluster**** here.

need can here. questions are:
1. how can rid of old time machine backup imac?
2. bad if removed old backups .backupdb folder (the ones when dad had macbook)? (i don't need them, wondering if creates problem code or file structure. backups folder still exists, not old backups of dad's).
3. if bad removed old backups .backupdb, how can put them back?
4. if isn't bad, how can rid of them?

please me. worried might happen.

edit: had deletion process of old backups going on in background. @ around -33,000, clicked x cancel deletion, surprise trash has been emptied! guess thing, still wondering if create problems if gone.

edit: woke morning after letting delete process run on sparsebundle night. worked. guess patience virtue
