New RAM caused logic board and HDD to fail?

my mac: 2008 15" mbp, 2.4 ghz core 2 duo, 2gb ram, nvidia geforce 8600m gt, running lion.

finding mac running slower i'd like, ordered this ram crucial. it's guaranteed compatible model of mbp. after installing it, mac felt brand new. worked better ever.

10 days later, woke 1 morning wake mac, wouldn't turn on, plus hot (no fans on). unplugged , removed battery, waited 10 minutes, , hooked up. started normally, fans kicked in right away, i'm assuming hot inside. worked after that.

7 hours later, when went wake mac, wouldn't turn on. removed battery again before, time turn on 1-2 seconds, shut off imediately, in this thread. switched original ram, problem remained.

few days later, when trying power on, sleep indicator light turn on , off in less second. took apple store, said logic board had failed. replaced it. seemed well, though hard drive sounded little different when starting up. when got home, reinstalled new ram. running nice, few of mac app store applications not opening, when checked account authorized on computer. decided restart mac see if fix issue.

shut down normally, when booted up, got far apple logo, shut down. switched original ram, problem remained. took apple store again. time, said hard drive failed. said they'd try reinstalling lion, and, if didn't work, replace hard drive.

brings present time. hard drive replaced, , runs new. haven't seen fans go more 2010 rpm, sounds makes sound used to, , mac feels less sluggish, 2gb of ram (though doesn't seem fast did 4gb of ram).

here's question: have been 4gb of ram ordered crucial caused 2 problems? or coincidence? don't want install ram if it's going damage computer, don't want ram go waste (plus i'd love have 4gb of ram again, boosted productivity).
