okay, after seeing many other people having same issue, decided write experience on issue. many ordered through sprint found shiny new iphone without useful applecare+ serial in box. @ least in case, packing slip stated applecare + backordered , call sprint (1-800-sprint-1) check order status. here steps went through try , add applecare + phone. if want see resolution of issue ,skip step 4.
step 1: not call sprint. useless. representative(s) talked knew nothing of applecare + nor why did not arrive phone. see billed me (which did on own through bank statement) , said 'call apple.'
step 2: call 1-800-275-2273. apple's support center applecare. prepared have serial number phone. (found in settings > general>about). have written down somewhere because had 3 times , annoying having find on , on again. representative transferred me sales department, did not tell me number. maybe if has direct line better call there.
step 3: talk sales support. verify serial number again. verify phone number, name, address.
step 4: told having hard time going through applecare + orders resellers (i.e. sprint) , may take time applecare + added phone. representative said "wait week , see if comes on there. if not, call copy of receipt sent verification." play safe, submitted proof of purchase today apple via https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementwarrantydynamic.do. guess wait , see happens next week.
total time trying taken care of: 2 hours
so....what happens if waiting applecare + "added" damages phone beyond limits of 1 year limited warranty? sure hope happens fast!
