My beef with ebooks

i use ipad e-reader, , love being able store hundreds of books in such thin , compact device. i'll never go old way of reading books. (paper? ew!) i've begun notice worrying trend in both apple's ibookstore , amazon: there increasing number of books have been self published authors, not professional authors hobbyists , amateurs, , many of them have not been proof read or edited. i've been caught out couple of times downloading samples of books realise few pages in book has been self published , reads schoolboy's rejected creative writing assignment.

don't me wrong, think it's great aspiring authors genuine talent can work out there without being rejected or shoved around ruthless publishing companies, worry these ebook stores in danger of being flooded poorly written books people benefit brushing on writing skills or seeking services of professional editor? perhaps there's still place publishers , editors in new era of digital books after all?

has else encountered kind of thing in ibookstore or amazon's store? or perhaps authors care chime in?

perhaps? of course there's place editors (and it's not self-published authors, stephen king benefit editing). self-promoting musicians on internet, you're going end lot of mediocre product because of ease of putting stuff out there. it's overall.
