SSD and 2TB Drives - where do people put their data?

i got 2011 imac ssd , 2tb drive option. know os , apps should run ssd, i'm curious move 2tb drive , how best it.

imagine user information belongs on 2tb drive thats bulk of data stored. people move entire user directory or create mount points , move things "downloads" , "documents"?

curious best practices. don't want confusion not knowing user directory things at, , apps need save data default user directories throwing things don't want them if forget change them.

i've seen lot of posts , blogs moving whole users drive. i've seen others use symbolic links can keep speed of ssd apps such itunes or microsoft user data (office 2011). seems wise, messy.

easy

osx & apps on ssd

else (user folder) on big hard drive.

main benefit of ssd booting , opening/closing programs

loading & copying files off 2tb fine since not booted off it.
