so upgraded macbook pro 15" late 2008 (original unibody), thought new 2011 model great...but total crap!
there many problems, complains on internet...
thought i'll write list of issues new macbook pro potential buyers or owners share own issues or solutions. here go:
1. overheating , fan noise
known issue, yet apple stays reluctant it. idle temps never below 50c, when example watch youtube, goes way , fans start spin around 3000rpm. noisy , annoying!
may problem thermal paste, bad heatsinks, fan control, whatever...
old 2008 machine dead silent.
2. hdd noise
500gb hdd in machine soooooo noisy time, louder fans. have toshiba, read hitachi models loud. moreover, when push enclosure above disk placement, noise less pronounced. cheap china crap...
again, 2008 machine silent...
3. display problem
many people complain display quality - have yellow tint (samsung manufacturer), blue tint (lg). have samsung. biggest problem though not color tint, contrast. blacks strong, soo dark, photographs, everything. may solved calibration, ok 1800eur or 2000usd machine?
, believe maximum brightness not strong 2008 model.
4. speakers
ok, speakers have subwoofer, positioned on left side of laptop...that means sound louder on side! wtf? heard stereo imaging @ apple?
anyway, 2008 macbook pro played much louder , sound better! more bass , clearer! speakers subwoofer worse old speakers without it????
, think sd card adapter? macbook pro, , pros know uses cf card, including me. why sd??? express card better.
think apple kidding us, or best laptop out there?
want send machine service, doubt replace disk, thermal paste, speakers , display. simply, because there no alternative...they not faulty, flaw in design.
disappointed.
none of these issues occur in macbook pro, remember online community minority , posting here, have joined it! not saying not real issue macbook pros faultless. overheating doesn't happen on macbook pro, loud fan noise issue happens when watching flash videos or other intensive tasks.
macbook pro 2011 so.... good good!
move along nothing see here.
