Restore and Activate

this seems should straightforward. iphone 4 touchscreen dead. while gets repaired/replaced, i'd use old iphone 3gs, has been reset factory settings, cleared of data, , in as-new state.

having upgraded iphones 3 times now, experience tells me restoring backup should set 3gs new phone, activating , transferring over. has been painless. time, however, while data, apps, settings, etc. copied over, phone not activated , don't service.

there reverting older model prevents itunes treating 3gs new phone? crazy annoying.

i guess can't on own. had go at&t store , new sim card activate old phone. i'll have repeat process once fixed iphone 4 back.
