Adding an Optibay SSD from OWC...

hey all,

wondering best way accomplish this...

have nice 500 gb seagate momentus xt hybrid drive main boot drive right now. want optibay type thingy owc, , put in 1 of 3g 60 gb ssd's in optical drive's location. make boot drive, location of "home" folder (and applications can start faster), want music located on 500 gb seagate, have become neo-computer audiophile, in library in aiff format. use amarra , bitperfect well, that's aside.

have 1 tb external work with. thinking move music, movies, photos, documents, tv shows, applications -- data want save -- in folder on external. can reformat 500 gb xt , ready put music on 1 (since it'll 2nd/internal/music drive). clean install lion on ssd. put maybe documents/photos/other personal folders on ssd, , keep movies , tv shows on external.

notes: rather not restore time machine backup take forever, on ethernet (well maybe 8 hours or so).

questions:
1. best way make sure "on mac" folders in mail.app transferred (as contents lol), , ical calendars not publishable/synced google.

2. best way make sure 'other' folders applications put on hard drive transferred on too? mean, copying application may not enough, right? programs seem store ancillary folders licenses, etc. don't want have re-hunt down.

3. should possible "bootcamp" 500 gb (non-boot) drive, right?

4. kind of important one: 60 enough space take advantage of whole ssd thing? instance i'd blu-ray ripper , hook (via usb2...don't have fw800) , first rip data hd, use handbrake convert mkv/m4v -- smaller 50 gb lol. more advantageous able stuff on ssd? or "bottleneck" far handbrake concerned bd ripping drive's speed? after data on 1 of hd's, it's cpu , hd speed rest, right? there's $80 price differential between 60 gb , 120 gb ssd, maybe it's worth bigger one, purpose @ least?

guess 1 can't "bump" threads in forum. seems kind of stupid, , detrimental if post thread in morning -- when no 1 see -- , later want call everyone's attention discussion. :/ whatev's! first forum has had such practice. note not openly arguing forum rules, don't think portion of post inflammatory. (i hope not come off way.)

saw this page, kind of outlines of folders 1 want copy on ssd after clean install.

1. curious whether there other folders article leaves out.

2. curious whether 60 gb enough space 'boot' [ssd] drive want place in optical bay's space. reason ask because rip blu-rays either ssd or hdd , use handbrake conver them smaller file (say, ~10 gb max). wondering if 60 gb enough space house home folder, applications, , ripped bd data processing. or 60 small that? moreover, ripping hdd sufficient processing, or ripping ssd faster far handbrake conversion concerned? figure bottleneck in handbrake conversion process cpu, more-so hd type or ram.

Permissions Problem?

hello. unable log on computer. took mac store , said had problem permissions. reset computer's permissions , able log onto computer. however, since dock resets day had permissions problem. example, had various cs5 programs on dock. when upgraded cs5.5, replaced cs5 shortcuts cs5.5 counterparts. however, when restarted computer, cs5 icons still there. also, whenever restart computer, browser history resets whatever on day encountered permissions problem. can not save bookmarks. also, files required type in password whenever try moving or deleting file. there other problems wanted see if knows problem have before adding more problems. thank   Forums Macs macOS macOS iPhone Mac OS & System Software iPad Apple Watch Notebooks iTunes Apple ID iCloud Desktop Comput...

iPhone won't sync with iTunes
