i'm lowly intern doing research on public parks in downtown austin area. i've been given project outside area of expertise, , i'd pick guys' brains it.
project requires me map several city blocks , label items [such historic landmarks, bus stops, surrounding businesses, common pedestrian nodes, etc.] within 1/4 mile radius of each park.
sounds simple enough, have absolutely no training in using design software or doing kind of work. have access indesign , illustrator on computers in of libraries on campus. i'm guessing these best tools use kind of work. fair say?
resources (online or books) recommend complete graphic design novice stepping project this?
general workflow recommendations or advice people have mapped city blocks or other things in past appreciated. again, i'm walking project blind.
maps located here along lines of have in mind. don't know how achievable or realistic expectations me.
hire geospatial mapping expert, seriously. nailing jelly tree.
