Backing up iPad 2 before installing iOS 5 GM?

i'm wanting know how should go backing wife's ipad 2 before install ios 5 gm? reason ask did clean install of imac , first time i've plugged/synced since clean install, want's erase , delete everything.

i've got phoneview can manually backup photos , books. applications being little tricky. don't see way copy/backup applications.

i'm going in same situation on iphone 3gs want address this. don't have worry contacts , email because use mobileme syncing those.

ideas?
 

i'm not sure follow you. mean way other connecting itunes , syncing it? up. matter of fact in process of installing ios 5 gm on ipad 2 windows 7 pc complaining unknown usb device before going restore using ios 5 gm. ended having restore backup of 4.x.x version running.

Permissions Problem?

hello. unable log on computer. took mac store , said had problem permissions. reset computer's permissions , able log onto computer. however, since dock resets day had permissions problem. example, had various cs5 programs on dock. when upgraded cs5.5, replaced cs5 shortcuts cs5.5 counterparts. however, when restarted computer, cs5 icons still there. also, whenever restart computer, browser history resets whatever on day encountered permissions problem. can not save bookmarks. also, files required type in password whenever try moving or deleting file. there other problems wanted see if knows problem have before adding more problems. thank   Forums Macs macOS macOS iPhone Mac OS & System Software iPad Apple Watch Notebooks iTunes Apple ID iCloud Desktop Comput...

iPhone won't sync with iTunes
