Upgrading from 3gs...do i need new sim card

so have 3gs unlimited data. read somewhere 4 , 4s take different kind of sim. when phone arrives, how correct sim card new phone same before?

3gs's take bigger sim card, right?
iphone 4(s) takes smaller sim card. talk carrier it.
