Cant share files on a Mc with Windows 7 PC

has heard of this? wants put file server in windows network. go apple store salesman tells them need buy mini lion server on , solve problems.

after lion mac mini refuses let connect other mac. try setting shared folder on different mac using 10.6.8 (non server ) , so.......... smb enabled, settings on pc's , mac set same work group name. files shared on mac windows users added mac shared folders, given read write permissions. firewalls set allow smb , netbios connections. (firewalls turned off didn't matter either).
of done pc's see mac shared folder on network not connect period.

far i've done this: followed steps , advice in article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1549?viewlocale=en_us , still windows 7 ultimate not connect?! tried on mac running 10.6.8.

has been able work successfully? use advice.:confused:
 

is firewall running on mac? quite when on network supposed "just work" mysteriously stops working, it's either os x firewall or on windows it's zonealarm.

1 - in system preferences pick sharing. make sure file sharing checked , under options make sure have check mark "share files , folders using smb."

2 - on windows side, network "browser" service may ignore macs , may have put in ip address of mac connect it. mac want user id , password on windows side might expecting provide password not both. sorry windows networking getting little rusty.

Permissions Problem?

hello. unable log on computer. took mac store , said had problem permissions. reset computer's permissions , able log onto computer. however, since dock resets day had permissions problem. example, had various cs5 programs on dock. when upgraded cs5.5, replaced cs5 shortcuts cs5.5 counterparts. however, when restarted computer, cs5 icons still there. also, whenever restart computer, browser history resets whatever on day encountered permissions problem. can not save bookmarks. also, files required type in password whenever try moving or deleting file. there other problems wanted see if knows problem have before adding more problems. thank   Forums Macs macOS macOS iPhone Mac OS & System Software iPad Apple Watch Notebooks iTunes Apple ID iCloud Desktop Comput...

iPhone won't sync with iTunes
