Issues with Home Folder on Separate Partition

i have system , home folder on separate partions- "system" , "user" drive. have been trying out setup few weeks now. hadn't had problem until today. booted imac, logged in , presented "default" account instead of own, though claimed account. keep in mind home folder on same physical drive, on separate partition, think there no significant delay in accessing home folder.

checked see if true home folder , partition still there. was. checked see if system had created new default home folder me on either partition. hadn't. checked see if path correct home folder in users , groups. was. rebooted. same thing. figure try , went preference pane.

though path correct, clicked on "choose..." button right of home directory path , again chose home folder. same exact path, added space , "1" after volume name. rebooted , normal. have idea why system felt need rename drive (though still shows original name in finder)? seems there glitches contend in setup.

*shrugs* sh*t happens. :p
