just last night ordered 1 of new 21.5" imacs, comes 4 gb ram standard (2 x 2gb). know imac has 4 slots planning on upgrading ram once computer arrives.
question is, there reason (other cost) why wouldn't want add (2 x 4gb) more, giving me 12 gb, rather adding (2 x 2 gb), total of 8 gb?
in other words, there "advantage" having:
2 gb
2 gb
2 gb
2 gb
on having
2 gb
2 gb
4 gb
4 gb
??? question make sense? guess it's way of saying, if "paired" memory good, "quadded" (not real word) memory better? or long comes in pairs, more better less?
the imac's motherboard supports dual channel memory. possible 2,2,2,2 in dual channel , possible have 2,2,4,4 in dual channel well. make sure each channel gets 2,4-- want same amount of memory per channel.
