PC to Mac iTunes library migration

i retired xp machine , upgraded macbook air. i'm trying move itunes library new macbook.

what's important me sort of music date added, retain date added data. nice have play count, skip count along album, year, , track #.

second step copy local or internal drive on new macbook air.

there simple 'copy .xml' way this? or far more complicated that?

i'm working external hard drive unfortunately formatted ntfs , 4 thousand some-odd songs.

copy off external hdd directly macbook air , keep added dates?

any appreciated.

lots of posts out there on sort of thing.
i'd inclined ...

first ... then

a. on xp, go itunes > prefs / options > advanced > media folder location & set sensible (large!) place media held. if inside itunes folder, better (you can move once you're on mac)

b. on xp, itunes > prefs / options > advanced > keep media folder organised & copy files itunes

c. on xp, itunes > file > library > organise > consolidate (or whatever option once you've selected organise)

media itunes knows 1 place

d. on mac, rename itunes folder & copy on xp one

e. start itunes on mac while holding down option key - it'll ask library location - point @ 1 copied xp

f. if doesn't find music etc straight away, check itunes > prefs / options > advanced > media folder location setting & correct if necessary. exit & reopen itunes (don't need down option time - it'll remember last choice).

should it.
in general, *don't* want mess itunes xml files, how lose date imported metadata etc - life should simpler & is; can copy libraries around & point @ them. simple ..

luck :)
